Eco Team

Welcome to The Eco Team

The Eco Team is a group of children, with two representatives from each class, who meet every fortnight to discuss matters which are important to our pupils.

Each class, during their weekly class assembly, talk about key eco issues which are then recorded by their representatives. The reps bring these notes to meetings and we talk about ways in which we can improve the school. Representatives feed back to their classes by reading the minutes from the meeting. When decisions need to be made, children are asked to vote for their preferred choice. Our Eco Team therefore acts like a democracy, similar to the society we live in.

Occasionally, the Eco Team raises money for charity. Check back here again to find out how much money we have raised so far this year and to learn where the money has gone. The reps are also involved in the interview process for new staff, observe lessons and represent the school at key events.

Members of this year's Eco Team will be announced shortly.

Clearing the courtyard

This week in our Eco Team meeting the children worked hard to clear and tidy up our courtyard. The courtyard is going to be fully cleared in order to house our new school chickens (so that we can eliminate the risk of pesky foxes!) and the children made a great impact in only 15 minutes helping to clear away a lot of dead plants and weeds. We are going to carry on with this in our next meeting. Quote of the session was from Chistopher who exclaimed "I want to be a gardener when I grow up!"

Nature Hotel

Earlier this year, thanks to our school's grants committee we secure a pot of money to develop a plot of land behind our swimming pool. The idea of to turn this area into a special nature area which can be used by everyone in the school. Over the Easter holidays a working party came to school to help clear the space because as you can see below a lot of work had to be done! A big thank you to Matt and Catherine who organised this event. We can't wait to see the final product!!
